Kedah Pakatan keeps MB pick close to chest.

Kedah Pakatan Harapan (PH) unveiled its candidates for the general election last night, but not its selection for the mentri besar post.

It is speculated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, is contesting both the Jerlun federal seat and the Jitra state seat to position him to be MB in the event PH fails to win federal power.

It is also rumoured that Amanah's Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah, who will run in Anak Bukit, is next in line should PH win the 14th general election and Mukhriz head to Putrajaya.

The pact will field nine candidates below 40, three for federal seats and the rest will be contesting in state seats and three women - one in a federal seat and two more in state seats.

The young candidates fielded for federal seats are Padang Terap candidate Mohd Khairizal Khazali - a 37 year old entrepreneur from Amanah; former Perlis assemblyman the 38 year old Chan Ming Kai from PKR who will be battling in Alor Setar and; 39 year old accountant Azli Uda from Amanah who will be contesting in Sik.

The six young candidates contesting in state seats are: Mohd Firdaus Ahmad (32, PPBM - Kuah); Mohd Aizad Roslan (37, PPBM - Bukit Lada); Teh Swee Leong (29, DAP - Kota Darul Aman); Mohd Saffuan Sabari (33, PPBM - Guar Chempedak); Ooi Tze Min (34, PKR - Bakar Arang) and; Robert Ling (34, PKR - Sidam).

The three women contesting under the PKR banner within the Opposition coalition are: Nor Azrina Surip (43, PKR - Merbok); Salmee Said (52, Amanah - Kota Siputeh) and; Halimaton Shaadiah Saad (49, PKR - Bukit Kayu Hitam).
