Kazakhstan adopts peacekeeping law.

The head of state of Kazakhstan has signed the law on the peacekeeping activities, the press service of the president said Tuesday.

The law defines the basic concepts, principles, objectives, and tasks of peacekeeping activities.

The law also determines the competence of the president of Kazakhstan, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Defense, and other government agencies whose activities may concern the peacekeeping area.

The law also describes the procedure for making decisions on the participation of Kazakhstan's national contingent in the peacekeeping operations.

The decision on the participation of civilian personnel in the peacekeeping operation is made by the Government of Kazakhstan.

Financing peacekeeping activities will be carried out by the funds intended for the state bodies (organizations), as well as the funds allocated by the United Nations and other international organizations and partner states.
