Katherine Veronica (Bregou) Grainger.

LONDON, ENGLAND - Katherine Veronica (Bregou) Grainger, 50, of London, England, died December 12, 2011, at the Hammersmith Hospital following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer and resulting complications.

Katherine was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on March 17, 1961 to Paul and Loretta Tonna Bregou. She grew up in Liverpool, New York, and graduated from Liverpool High School. Katherine worked in the family bakery and restaurant business for many years. Katherine attended Onondaga Community College where she earned an Associates' Degree in Humanities. Through a collaborative program of the State University of New York and Onondaga Community College, Katherine continued her studies for one year in Madrid, Spain. Additional travels to the Middle East enhanced Katherine's love for other cultures as well as international business, leading her to a job at an import/export custom brokerage firm in Syracuse, where she specialized in foreign trade zones. In 1990, Katherine's life took an unexpected turn. She left the business world to join Campus Crusade for Christ. After three years of service in the college ministry, Katherine joined the Christian Embassy-Campus Crusade's ministry to diplomats and their families at the United Nations in New York City. In 1998, Katherine married John Grainger, a British diplomat. They moved to London, England in 2001 with their young son, Jonathan where Katherine helped to pioneer the Christian Embassy/AGAPE ministry in London. She served there until the time of her death.

Katherine was pre-deceased by her beloved mother, Loretta Tonna Bregou. She is survived by her loving husband, John and their son, Jonathan; her father, Paul Bregou, North Syracuse, NY; a brother, Louis (Linda) Bregou, Brewerton, NY, and three sisters, Virginia (Michael) Jablanski, Baldwinsville, NY, Susan (Richard)Mirra Syracuse, NY and Denise (Fred) Santucci, Jamesville, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and aunt. She had an infectious smile that warmed many hearts, but she will be remembered most for her devotion to Jesus Christ. She was committed to sharing Him with others and once described her position with the Christian Embassy as her opportunity to "export the good news of Jesus Christ around the world."

A funeral service for Katherine was held at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London, England on December 21, 2011. A memorial service will be held, Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Eastern Hills Bible Church, 8277 Cazenovia Road, Manlius, New York 13104.
