Kath builds on head start in business world.
Kath Graham, a former insurance worker, opened Mystical Spray Tan & Beauty earlier this year, inspired by her daughter-in-law's physical intolerance to bright sunshine. Now the entrepreneur, who took the self-employment plunge for the first time aged 47, has added Mystical Hair Studio to her range of beauty services for shoppers at Sainsbury's Heaton Road branch.
Mystical has recruited two experienced hair stylists, salon manager Matthew Stewart and senior stylist Rachel Howey from Slice on Benton Park Road, Newcastle, to head-up the new venture and is looking to recruit two more staff once the business is firmly established.
Mark Graham, who works for mum Kath in the family business, said: "We wanted to offer all the beauty services under one roof and shoppers kept asking if we did hair, so it seemed like the logical next step for the business. The business is doing really well and the spray tanning has really taken off as an alternative to sun beds, because you get an instant result and it's safer.
"We hope our weddings package, which allows brides and bridesmaids to get their waxing, nails, tan, massage and hair done under one roof, will take off for us."
