Kate's tsunami rose; TRIBUTE TO DEAR FRIEND AND BABY LOST IN DISASTER.

Byline: By FIONA CUMMINS

KATE Moss lovingly holds a rose which was created in memory of a friend and her baby daughter who perished in the Asian tsunami.

Samantha Archer Fayet, 37, her husband Patrice and six-month-old Ruby Rose were staying in a beach hut at Khao Lak, Thailand, when the waves struck on Boxing Day 2004. Patrice survived but Sam and Ruby Rose drowned after being swept away.

Model booker Sam spoke to Kate just hours before the tragedy to wish her a happy Christmas.

A charity to help children in Thailand has been set up in their memory.

Kate, 32, who lent her face to promote the fundraising drive, said: "Sam was one of my oldest and closest friends.

"If my support for the charity helps kids get a better education and start in life, it's the least I can do in memory of Sam and Ruby Rose."

Proceeds from the SamandRuby flower sales will aid a school project.
