GRIEF is etched on movie star Kate Winslet's face as she attends the funeral of inspirational cancer battler Gemma Nuttall. The actress, 43, was among the celebrities who lent their support when Gemma refused treatment while pregnant to save her daughter Penelope's life.
Kate and Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio helped raise PS300,000 for Gemma to have therapy in Germany.
The 29-year-old had defied medics but lost her five-year fight with ovarian cancer on October 14.
Kate joined hundreds of mourners at Gemma's funeral in Accrington, Lancashire, yesterday. She was understood to have been among those paying tribute in the service.
Family and friends wore blue and pink to celebrate Gemma's life.
A horse-drawn carriage bearing Gemma's coffin led the funeral procession and mourners entered the cemetery chapel to Beyonce's song Halo.
In a statement at the time of her death, Kate said: "Gemma was such a beacon of strength. It was a privilege to be let into her life for a brief time and to try to help."
