Katara, GPDN sign pact to promote cultural diplomacy.

Tribune News Network Doha The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDN) to enhance the cultural exchange between Katara and the network on Tuesday. Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti and Dr Sheref Atesh, president of the Yunus Emre Institute and president of GPDN, signed the agreement in the attendance of Darweesh Ahmed al Sheebani, head of Marketing Department at Katara and acting director of Katara Cultural Affairs, in addition to a Turkish delegation and media representatives. Dr Sulaiti expressed happiness for signing the agreement which aims to promote Katara to a new level in the field of international cultural diplomacy and enhance the cultural exchange between Katara and GPDN through the implementation of bilateral projects and support of joint programmes. "Katara has achieved a lot in the field of cultural diplomacy, especially within its diversified cultural programmes which promote the values of tolerance and co-existence," Dr Sulaitui said. He highlighted the importance of such cooperation which will facilitate more interaction between people and support relations between countries and different societies. "The cultural diplomacy has a great impact on people as being a"soft power" that strengthens peace around the world, as well as creating mutual grounds between people to overcome any issues or struggles," he added. On His part, Dr Atesh said that the agreement would create a better identity for the Qatari and Turkish cultures. "With Turkey and Qatar's strong presence in cultural fields, we can make good and fruitful projects together in the future in promoting cultural diplomacy in both countries and throughout the world," he said.
