Karen blows open chance.

GOLF: Karen Stupples saw her bid to become the third English winner of the US Women's Open disappear on a final day of horror tales that saw South Korea's Birdie Kim claim victory with a magical shot in Denver.

Tied for the lead, Kim holed from a greenside bunker for a birdie at the final hole for a closing 72 and three-over-par 287, to win the pounds 300,000 prize.

Having shared the lead at the start of the day, Stupples had a 78 for an eight-over-par 292 and was joint 10th.
