Karen Burt award.

Nominations are open for the Karen Burt Memorial Award 2012, the most prestigious award of the Women's Engineering Society (WES).

The award is made annually to the most outstanding woman engineer, applied scientist or IT professional who has achieved chartered status within 12 months of 1 July 2012.

Accrediting engineering institutions may nominate one candidate a year, and selection is by a WES panel on the basis of further information provided by the candidate.

Karen Burt was very active in the Society and a tireless campaigner for the recruitment and retention of women in science and engineering.
