Karate: Magnificent seven medals for club.

MEMBERS of the long-running Pontypridd Kyokushin Karate Club picked up seven medals in the Welsh Open Kyokushin Senior Full Contact Knockdown and Junior Semi-Contact Karate Championshipsat Llantrisant Leisure Centre.

The established tournament attracted top fighters from nine countries.

In their categories, Pontypridd Juniors Jade Foster and Carl White took gold medals, Morgan Hancock a silver medal and Jodie Heath, Nathan Richards and Savannh Janes a bronze medal.

Jade's big sister Michaela Foster took a silver medal in the ladies Full Contact Knockdown category.

Michaela has also been selected by the Welsh Karate Governing Body to represent Wales in the Under-21 European All Styles Championships being held in Paris in January.

Jade, Carl and Llantrisant Club member Robert Kettle also took medals in the Dutch Open Watersports Cup held in Sneek, Holland, where they faced a tough test from more than 220 competitors!

The club trains every Sunday and Wednesday at Hawthorn Leisure Centre and welcomes all ages.
