Kamdhenu University for the development of veterinary and animal sciences in Gujarat.
Kamdhenu University came into established on 7th July' 2009 when Honourable Governor of Gujarat assented to the Kamdhenu University Act, 2009. The university has been incorporated as teaching and affiliating University for development of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and for furthering advancement of learning conducting of Research and dissemination of finding of research and other technical information in Veterinary, Animal Sciences, Dairy Sciences, Fisheries and Allied sciences in the State of Gujarat.
Kamdhenu University at present runs following programmes through its constituent and affiliated institutes viz Graduate degree in Dairy Technology (B. Tech) at College of Dairy Science, Amreli and Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology (MIDFT), Mehsana and Diploma in Animal Husbandry at Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Himmatnagar, Dist Sabarkantha; Shreeji Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Himmatnagar, Dist Sabarkantha and Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Khadasali, Dist Amreli.
The University also intends to start Master in Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) in Animal Genetics and Breeding, Livestock Production and Management, Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Animal Nutrition at Post Graduate Institute Research in Veterinary Sciences; Master in Dairy Technology (M Tech) in Dairy Chemistry and Dairy Microbiology at Post Graduate Institute Research in Dairy Sciences; Master in Fisheries Sciences (M.F.Sc) in Ornamental Fisheries at Post Graduate Institute Research in Fisheries Sciences, Gandhinagar from 2015-16.
On 19th August' 2014, Prof. M.C. Varshsneya has joined as the First Vice Chancellor of the Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Prof. Varshneya has prior been associated with Anand Agricultural University, Anand as Vice-Chancellor from 2004 to 2010.
