KVEA-TV LAUNCHES SCHOLARSHIP 'ACADEMIC ALL-STARS' PROGRAM FOR HISPANIC GRADUATING SENIORS; APPLICATIONS DUE MAY 1

LOS ANGELES, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- KVEA-TV, Channel 52, in conjunction with its parent network Telemundo, has established a scholarship program, entitled "Academic All-Stars," that focuses on enhancing the educational enthusiasm among Hispanic students in Los Angeles schools.
"It is our goal through these scholarships to enable bright Hispanic students to reach their goals, and help them get through the economic barrier," said KVEA-TV General Manager Augustine Martinez.
Students in the Los Angeles, Kern, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties will have the unique opportunity to earn college scholarships from between $1,000 and $20,000 a year. Application deadline is May 1. Students may obtain applications and additional information from their high school counselors.
This scholarship program is part of Telemundo's education campaign, "De Padres a Hijos," or "From Parents to Children," which is a comprehensive effort designed to reach out to Hispanic parents, empowering them with the information and guidance they need to become full partners in their children's education.
