KVEA-TV, CHANNEL 52 NEW MARKET LEADER IN LOCAL NEWS COVERAGE

LOS ANGELES, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in 30 years, the Los Angeles Hispanic community has a new Spanish- language television leader in local news coverage, according to the latest Nielsen Hispanic Station Index ratings.
KVEA achieved an all-time high "sweeps" rating of 13.3 for its 6 p.m. newscast, tying its closest competitor, KMEX. At 11 p.m., KVEA beat KMEX by 170 percent, attaining a 10.8 household rating in the late night news in comparison with KMEX's 4.0 rating.
"This is a well-deserved accomplishment for our station," said KVEA General Manager Augustine Martinez. "KVEA's strong local newscast has taken the station to the top; KVEA is the new leader," he added.
KVEA Director of Marketing and Research David Bright said, "The numbers speak for themselves; the Hispanic community has chosen KVEA as their No. 1 source for news and information."
The Nielsen Hispanic Station Index (NHSI) measures television ratings within Hispanic households. Nielsen has state-of-the-art people meters installed in 200 Hispanic households located in the Los Angeles DMA.
KVEA-TV is a Telemundo-owned and operated station serving the Los Angeles Hispanic community since 1985.
