KSolutions, WorldCom Partnership Offers Accelerated Implementation

Via Web Hosting Model

KSolutions, Compaq, and United Training announced today that they have teamed to offer a five-day rapid implementation of Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server technology.

The service, called K.SPRINT, which stands for SharePoint Rapid INTegration, brings leaders of the knowledge management, hardware and training industries together to help companies reap the rewards of their technology investments in only five days.

Additionally, for small to mid-sized companies or individual departments that need SharePoint Portal's functionality over the Internet, the K.SPRINT team will leverage its relationship with WorldCom and its Digex hosting facilities specifically. This partnership provides for high-end managed Web and application hosting services for businesses worldwide. Further, by eliminating IT interference issues, Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server can be installed almost immediately with a service agreement that ensures availability of the SharePoint Portal via the Internet.

K.SPRINT leverages the capabilities of KSolutions, Compaq, United Training and WorldCom in the Web hosting model, to provide the knowledge management consulting, hardware, software, Microsoft Certified Training and hosting needed to establish SharePoint Portal in any existing business environment within a rapid, five-day window. With K.SPRINT, companies can quickly and inexpensively evaluate the dynamic benefits that Microsoft's SharePoint provides prior to making an enterprise decision.

KSolutions, a SharePoint Portal Server global launch partner known for its knowledge management solutions and services, has been working diligently during the past year to help plan and participate in the product's launch. "We realized early on that Microsoft's SharePoint would become a key component of the solutions and services we offer to our clients," said John Hart, Executive Vice President of Solutions Development for KSolutions. "K.SPRINT manifests that idea and offers that same potential to other companies that would like to experience and test its feasibility for their own solutions."

Jeff Teper, General Manager of the SharePoint Portal Server Business Unit at Microsoft added, "We are extremely enthusiastic about this partnership and the ability of K.SPRINT to accelerate the implementation of SharePoint Portal. KSolutions and Compaq have both been innovative SharePoint Portal Server launch partners and it's not surprising to see them come together with this type of solution. Knowing their commitment to quality service, we are convinced that this solution is an ideal way for any company to experience the value of Microsoft's SharePoint."

Compaq ProLiant servers represent the hardware backbone of the K.SPRINT Program. Compaq will deliver defined, tested and recommended ProLiant server configurations for K.SPRINT. Compaq's ProLiant server based solutions, running Microsoft's SharePoint and implemented by Compaq's engineers with the K.SPRINT team will quickly turn networks into enterprise knowledge intranets bringing people, processes and information together to increase productivity and agility. Compaq will leverage their hardware acumen and Microsoft platform expertise to provide pre-loaded SharePoint Portal Servers and services to the K.SPRINT program.

SharePoint Portal offers companies the ability to easily find, share and publish information through robust document management, collaboration, subscription, indexing and search functions. Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server delivers significant value as a stand-alone product; however, its power is greatly enhanced when combined with the new line of Office XP applications.
