KRAFT USA EXPLORES POTENTIAL SALE OF BIRDS EYE BUSINESS

GLENVIEW, Ill., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Kraft USA reported today that it is currently holding discussions with several interested parties and is considering selling its Birds Eye frozen vegetables and fruits business.
"BIRDS EYE is an outstanding trademark with significant growth potential. However, we are evaluating various strategic options, and one of them is to sell the Birds Eye business," said James Kilts, president of Kraft USA.
The Birds Eye business has approximately 900 employees, with headquarters in Orange, Calif., and production facilities in Waseca, Minn.; Fulton, N.Y.; and Celaya, Mexico.
The Birds Eye business is part of The All American Gourmet Company (AAGC), headquartered in Orange. AAGC, a unit of Kraft USA, also makes The Budget Gourmet brand of frozen meals and side dishes, which is not part of this potential sale. Kraft USA is an operating group of Kraft General Foods, the multinational food business of Philip Morris Companies Inc. (NYSE: MO).
