KPPC exports 1st shipment of heavy aromatics.

Kuwait Paraxylene Production Company (KPPC), a fully owned subsidiary of Kuwait Aromatics Company (KARO), announced that it has exported its first ever shipment of heavy aromatics.

Heading to customers in Asia, the shipment's size is 17,000 metric tons.

"KPPC aromatics plant will continue selling heavy aromatics produced at the site, with a capacity of 80,000 metric tons annually (MTA), to enhance the added-value and returns from this stream to the aromatics business," said KARO board chairman Al-Rashidi.

"The stream which was previously used as a fuel substitute at the site has a higher market replacement value and will also reduce the site's overall carbon print due to lower CO2 emissions resulting from the use of cleaner fuels."

Al-Rashidi expressed utmost appreciation to Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) and Equate Petrochemical Company for their role in the success of the heavy aromatics production.

In addition to heavy aromatics, KKPC's aromatics complex produces 829,000 MTA of Paraxylene and 393,000 MTA of Benzene.

KARO is a joint venture grouping Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) with 40 per cent, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) with 40 per cent, while Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC) owns the remaining 20 per cent.

Equate is the single operator of Greater Equate, which includes KPPC, TKSC and The Kuwait Olefins Company (TKOC) under one fully integrated operational umbrella at Kuwait's Shuaiba Industrial Area.- TradeArabia News Service
