KPK finance minister given presentation on 2011-2012 budget.

PESHAWAR, March 18, 2011 (Balochistan Times): A presentation on the budget 2011-12 was given to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Minister for Finance Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan at the Conference Room of Finance Department in Peshawar, says a press release received here on Thursday. The minister was briefed in detail on the financial position of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget 2011-12 and the necessary impact on it due to the 18th Amendment. He was also told about the fiscal challenges the KPK was going through due to the last year floods and estimated increase in the budgetary allocations due to implementation of different measures for the welfare of the general masses. The new increase in the expenditures due to induction of teachers, implementation of the four tier formula in the education department, rehabilitation of the flood victims etc was also debated and a strategy adopted to overcome the shortfalls in the budget. The minister was also shown the total break up of the federal fund and manpower transfers. The finance minister stressed the need for broad-based strategy to make the budget transparent and participatory. He directed the authorities concerned to make the budget beneficial for the people. He said efforts should be made to give proper attention to the health, education and social sectors. The minister was told that proper support to raising literacy ratio in the province had also been proposed in the budget. Moreover, various new programmes had been proposed in the budget for the well-being of the talented students and youth. The minister was also shown different priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in various social sectors and it was identified that efforts would be made to avoid putting extra load on the people. Those attended the presentation included Secretary Finance Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad, Special Secretary Finance Masood Khan, additional secretaries Nadeem Bashir and Bashir Khan and other officers of the Finance department.
