PESHAWAR:The people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Fata Monday observed Kashmir Solidarity Day with immense enthusiasm and fervor, renewing pledge to continue moral, diplomatic and political support to people of held Kashmir till achievement of their right of self- determination and liberation from the Indian yoke.

In KP and Fata, the main features of the day was big rallies and demonstrations, seminars, workshops and walks organized by political parties, civil society, educational organizations and Jammu Kashmir Council where people expressed complete solidarity with people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) who were subjected to brutal killing, physical and mental torture, disability and disgracement of women at the hands of Indian Occupied Forces during last 70 years.

Special functions were held in all 25 districts and seven agencies of Fata where people raised slogans such as 'Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan' and 'Stop killing of innocent Kashmiris' in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) besides asking UN Security Council to implement its resolutions on Kashmir as quickly as possible like that of East Taimour.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of Pakistan, eternal peace of martyrs of Kashmir's struggle and liberation of Muslim occupied territories including Indian held Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

Also, the civil society, political, culture and educational organizations arranged special programmes, seminars, talks shows, walks, symposium, demonstrations and declamation contests in connection with this momentous day.

The day is observed every year in continuation of the first call given by former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1975. Today was public holiday in KP and Fata and all institutions, schools, colleges and offices remain closed.

The day is being observed to give a loud and clear message to the world that the hearts of Pakistanis and Kashmiris throb in unison and they could not be separated from each other.

Khyber Pakthunkhwa Teachers Association, Jamiat Talba e Islam, Kashmiris, Transports and Rickshaw unions and students organizations besides others organized walks, rallies and declamation contests in connection with the day.

The major function of the day organized by Jammu and Kashmir Council was held at Peshawar Press Club where eminent politicians, lawyers, academicians and international relations and human rights experts attended in large number.

Prominent among those are veteran politician and former Federal Minister Salim Saifullah Khan, Rah e Haq Party central President, Muhammad Ibrahim Qasmi, Convener District Council Peshawar, Qasim Shah, JUIF Information Secretray Jalil Jan,

PML-N Information Secretray Nasir Khan Musazai and others.

The speakers said Kashmir was the unfinished part of the partition of subcontinent and its solution was imperative for durable peace, economic progress and stability in South Asia.

They said durable peace could not be established in South Asia unless the longstanding issue of Kashmir was addressed as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris as soon as possible.

The people of Kashmir had never accepted India's illegal occupation and the day was not far away when they will succeed in their legitimate struggle for independence from Indian oppression. The struggle for independence in IOK has entered into a decisive phase and was moving fast towards logical end.

The speakers said India was the killer of Kashmiris while Pakistan was the prime supporter of their long political and just struggle for independence, adding observing Kashmir Day with traditional zeal and fervor across Pakistan and AJK was a proof that whole Pakistani nation was supporting the people of IoK in their legitimate struggle.

The speakers said India had crossed all records of atrocities and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and despite unprecedented brutalities of New Dehli, the Kashmiri youth were taking forward their freedom movement.

They said world had changed now and people of IoK could not be deprived of their social, cultural, political, economics and civil rights any more.

They said UNSC had passed several successive resolutions including asking for a free and impartial plebiscite to be conducted by the UN but New Delhi backtracked on its promises and Kashmiris were still struggling for their right to self-determination.

The speakers regretted that UNSC had failed so far to implement its resolutions on Kashmir.

They said it was the responsibility of International Community and UNSC to implement its resolutions on Kashmir in letter and spirit besides taking notices of grave human rights violations and extra judicial killing of the innocent Kashmiris at IoK.

The speakers expressed the hope that international Community including US and UN would come forward to press India to settle this long standing dispute with Pakistan as per the wishes and aspirations of people of Kashmir as quickly as possible as further delay would make very negative effect on peace and stability in South Asia.
