KOHL'S CORPORATION JULY SALES REPORT

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Kohl's Corporation (NYSE: KSS) reported today that sales for the month of July were up 18.8 percent over a year ago. On a comparable store basis, sales increased 9.3 percent.
For the quarter ended July 31, 1993, sales were up 18.3 percent over a year ago. On a comparable store basis, sales increased 8.2 percent.
For the 26 weeks ended July 31, 1993, sales were up 18.3 percent over a year ago. On a comparable store basis, sales increased 8.5 percent.
It should be noted that comparable store sales growth in August 1993 will compare against a 28.3 percent store for store gain in August 1992. The increase in 1992 was the year's largest monthly comparable store sales increase and was the result of an extremely successful new promotional event. We have taken this difficult comparison into account in our third quarter sales plan.
