ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's leading magazines -- from Fortune to Video to Popular Mechanics -- elected Kodak (NYSE: EK) products for recognition in their annual awards issues.
Traditional products honored include Kodak Gold, Ektachrome, Ektar and T-Max films and Kodak FunSaver 35 cameras. Technology awards went to the Kodak Photo CD system, the Kodak DCS 200ci digital camera, the Kodak Ektaplus 7016 printer, the Kodak Diconix 701 printer and the Kodak Imagelink scanner 900. And the entire U.S. Consumer Imaging sales force received an award for superior service.
"We are very pleased that the quality built into Kodak products has been recognized on such a large scale by extremely critical users and discerning media, " commented Robert Hamilton, vice-president and general manager, U.S. & Canada Region at Kodak. "We are especially pleased that the awards span a collection of Kodak imaging technologies from silver to hybrid to digital electronic systems."
The December issue of Fortune named the Kodak Photo CD player a "Product of the Year" in their annual Year-In-Review article. Editors from Popular Mechanics recognized Photo CD technology in the electronics category of their "Design & Engineering Awards," listed in the January '93 issue. The readers of Presentation Products voted their top award to Photo CD, naming the hybrid system one of the most innovative multimedia products on the market.
Video also selected the Kodak Photo CD player for a "VIVA Gold!" award, citing it as one of the top 15 video products of 1992. And photo retailers recognized the Kodak Photo CD system as the "Top New Technology of the Year" in Photographic Trade News (PTN) magazine's annual awards issue.
Kodak products led four other categories in PTN's annual awards: The Kodak FunSaver panoramic 35 camera is the "Top Single-Use Camera," Kodak Gold 200 plus film is the choice for "Top Color Print Film" and Kodak T- Max 400 professional film won the "Top Black-And-White Film" honors. Kodak Polycontrast III paper shares the award in the "Top Darkroom Product" category.
Along with the magazine honors, Kodak Photo CD technology received the top award of the International Press Association, an organization of news photojournalists.
Readers of Petersen's Photographic magazine voted the entire five- model line of Kodak FunSaver 35 cameras as "Best 35 mm Camera under $100."
