 KODAK STREAMLINES SALES
 FOR PRINTER PRODUCTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move to help streamline its third-party selling process and to price its printer products more competitively, Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) announced today it will sell its thermal, electrophotographic and ink jet printers directly to resellers.
The move will make Kodak's entire printer product line available to a larger base of resellers and customers. According to Kodak officials, the company will be able to offer resellers the same pricing and program support as distributors, thereby reducing prices to resellers and, ultimately, end users. The new selling structure will translate into customer savings of as much as 15 percent for its Ektaplus products and 12 percent for its ink jet and thermal printer products.
The company will continue sales to both distributors and dealers, anticipating that under its new program some dealers will still purchase product through distributors.
In addition to co-op support and volume purchase rebates, Kodak will conduct a number of sales promotions to help create demand for Kodak printers. From May 1 to Aug. 31, customers purchasing the Ektaplus 7016 will receive a $200 cash rebate, as well as a 12-month supply of consumables and eight different font cards. To support sales of Kodak's thermal printer product line, an extensive direct mail program to service bureaus will begin this quarter. A national advertising campaign, in support of the recently introduced Diconix 701 printer, a mobile ink jet printer, started this quarter.
Kodak's new program takes effect immediately and includes the Ektaplus 7016 and 7008 printers; Diconix printers (the 701, 180si, M150 plus and Color 4); and its full line of thermal printers (the XLT 7720, XL 7700, 6600P and 6600S).
