KODAK JOINS BRAVO AS CORPORATE UNDERWRITER
KODAK EKTAR Film to Underwrite Weekly Night of Independent Film,
 Community Cinema and Original Production
 WOODBURY, N.Y., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Kodak joins Bravo as a

major corporate underwriter, it was announced today by Kathleen Dore, vice president and general manager, Bravo.
The team effort between Kodak and Bravo integrates on-air corporate underwriting with local marketing, educational initiatives, and original production, and commences immediately.
This effort involves four significant areas:
-- KODAK EKTAR Film will present "The Independents," hosted by actress Karen Allen, Bravo's weekly slate of independent films on Mondays at 8 p.m. Eastern.
-- "Community Cinema," a local Bravo program, which encourages cable operators to work with university film departments and film groups to showcase locally the films and videos. New talents gain valuable media exposure from this monthly showcase. Bravo and Kodak will award a $5,000 annual prize and a national airing on the network to the best work showcased in a local "Community Cinema."
-- KODAK EKTAR Film will exclusively underwrite Bravo's coverage of "The Independent Spirit Awards," the annual awards ceremony of the Independent Features Project/West, which honors independent filmmaking and filmmakers.
-- Bravo and KODAK EKTAR Film will co-produce a series of 30-second public service vignettes to educate Bravo audiences as to the importance and value of independent filmmaking and its contribution to the arts in America. Directors Martha Coolidge ("Rambling Rose"), Bill Duke ("Deep Cover") and Matty Rich ("Straight Out of Brooklyn") are among those scheduled to appear.
"Kodak has long been recognized as a leader in terms of support of independent filmmakers," said Dore. "We are pleased that they acknowledge Bravo as the premier showcase for independent films. Through stepped-up acquisition of high-profile independent films for the network and increased visibility through such in-market programs as our 'Community Cinema' showcase, we will provide the broadest possible exposure for independent films and the issues which affect the filmmakers."
"We are pleased with our association with Bravo," said Gregory Walker, manager, marketing communications, Consumer Imaging, U.S. Region, Kodak. "Bravo's audience corresponds to a profile of advanced amateurs and early adopters whose response to KODAK EKTAR Film has been so encouraging to our consumer imaging group."
KODAK EKTAR Film provides the best image structure available in a color print film. It offers outstanding sharpness and highest resolution.
In January, Bravo announced the commencement of corporate underwriting on the network. Texaco, Inc., joined as the charter sponsor with the creation of the "Texaco Performing Arts Showcase," which expanded by 20 percent the breadth of performing arts shown on the network.
All programs on Bravo remain commercially uninterrupted.
Bravo is part of Rainbow Programming Holdings, Inc., which also includes American Movie Classics, the SportsChannel Regional Network, and is affiliated with SportsChannel America.
Bravo is television's cultural channel, offering award-winning independent and international films as well as the best in performing arts. Bravo is seen in more than 8 million homes nationwide.
