KODAK CONFIRMS IT WILL STAY IN COPY PRODUCTS BUSINESS

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) today confirmed a published report that its copy products business will remain a strategic component of its business portfolio.
"Our copy products business is not for sale, and we have no plans to sell it" said George M.C. Fisher, who has been Kodak's chairman, president, and chief executive officer since December 1. "It's time to bury any speculation that says otherwise."
Fisher said he has been reviewing Kodak's various businesses and has determined that the Copy Products unit, which is part of the company's Office Imaging organization, can make a strong contribution to the bottom line.
"I am satisfied with the progress and potential of this unit," Fisher said. "Copy Products will make a positive earnings contribution in 1993, and it has the products, people, and determination to continue its turnaround in the future."
Edgar J. Greco, Kodak vice-president and general manager, Office Imaging, said the copy products business has shown marked improvement because of successful marketing strategies, effective cost controls, elimination of non-profitable products, and improved reliability and customer acceptance of its current products.
