 KODAK CHAIRMAN WHITMORE RECEIVES
 GOLDEN PHOTOKINA NEEDLE AWARD
COLOGNE, Germany, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Kay R. Whitmore, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK), received the Golden Photokina Needle award from the Lord Mayor of the City of Cologne at ceremonies here today.
The award, also known as the "Photokina Eye," is the highest recognition awarded at the biennial world's fair of imaging. The award, presented regularly at Photokina since the 1950s, traditionally goes to individuals who have played a major role in the development and progress of the worldwide imaging industry.
"I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the people of Kodak, from the world's fair of images," Whitmore said. "Kodak is proud to have introduced many of its products at past Photokina fairs, and I am grateful for the recognition you honor us with today."
Whitmore, who was elected Kodak chairman and chief executive officer in May, 1990, was named company president in 1983. He began his career with Kodak in 1957 as an engineer in film manufacturing, and has held a variety of engineering and management positions during his 35-year career with the company.
Whitmore is a trustee of the University of Rochester, the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, and the U.S. National Center on Education and the Economy.
Past recipients of the award include Dr. Ron Sommer, vice president, Sony Corporation of America; Peter Sibbe, manufacturing director, JVC Professional Products in Germany; Dr. Klaus Gerlach, chairman of the board worldwide, Agfa-Gevaert AG; and Raymond H. DeMoulin, former vice president and general manager, Professional Photography Division, Kodak.
