 KODAK ANALYZERS TO PLAY
 KEY HEALTH ROLE IN GAMES
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Clinical analyzers from Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) will play a key role in monitoring athletes' health during the 1992 Winter Olympic Games.
The Kodak Ektachem DT60 and Ektachem 700 XR analyzer Series C instruments will be used in follow-up studies of athletes participating in various events, including ice hockey and Nordic skiing.
Tests will include those for lactic acid, hemoglobin, cholesterol, micro HDL, glucose, total protein, total bilirubin and triglycerides. Test results will be used to access an athlete's overall condition during competition, and to determine if an individual is suffering from mineral deficiencies or other abnormalities.
The Winter Games will be held in mid-February in Albertville, France. The games' organizing committee will operate two medical centers: Brides-les-Bains and Les Saisies. Two Ektachem DT60 analyzers will be placed in the first center, while one Ektachem 700 XRC analyzer will be installed in the second.
The analyzers will also be used during the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. In 1986, an Ektachem DT60 system was used during the Asian Games in Seoul, South Korea. In 1984, a Kodak Ektachem 400 analyzer was used at the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In addition, the DT60 analyzer presently is used on many U.S. military posts and in some 25 U.S. embassies. NASA also has chosen it for use in space.
