KNOWLEDGEWARE ANNOUNCES THREE ADDITIONAL JAPANESE LANGUAGE CASE TOOLS
ATLANTA, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- KnowledgeWare, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: KNOW) today announced the immediate availability of Japanese language versions of its Application Development Workbench(a)/Planning (ADW/PWS), Design (ADW/DWS) and the Application Development Workbench/Cross System Product Enablement Facility (ADW/CEF).
The products, designated ADW-J/PWS, ADW-J/DWS and ADW-J/CEF, augment the company's other Japanese language product offering, the ADW-J/Analysis Workstation (ADW-J/AWS), available since July 1991.
The products are OS/2(b)-based, AD/Cycle(c) compliant, support entry of all Japanese characters and operate under OS/2-J Extended Edition, Release 1.23 on an IBM PS/55. ADW-J/CEF exports information from the Design Workstation to IBM's Cross System Product(d) (CSP) for complete application generation. The ADW-J products are a Japanese version of KnowledgeWare's ADW product line, which is integrated around a central intelligent encyclopedia that enables automatic transitions between various phases of the application development life cycle.
"The Japanese software market is growing at an estimated rate of 20 percent annually and is now approximately one-third the size of the U.S. market. We believe that the recent introductions of our ADW workstations position us to take advantage of this emerging, rapidly growing market," said KnowledgeWare President and Chief Operating Officer Donald P. Addington. "Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Japanese software market is that most software expenditures are custom-built applications rather than packaged software. We believe this presents a strong potential market for CASE tools."
KnowledgeWare's Japanese language products have been developed jointly with Ernst & Young CASE Technologies, which is a joint venture of Ernst & Young, USA, and two Japanese firms, Asahi Shinwa and Showa Ota. Ernst & Young CASE Technologies was established to develop, market, sell and support KnowledgeWare products in Japan. In Japan, the ADW-J/PWS, ADW-J/AWS, ADW-J/DWS and ADW-J/CEF are sold and supported through the Tokyo office of Ernst & Young CASE Technologies.
KnowledgeWare develops, markets and supports CASE tools for use by information systems development professionals. KnowledgeWare markets and supports its products from its Atlanta headquarters, from field sales offices and through international distributors in 32 countries. KnowledgeWare is a member of the IBM International Alliance for AD/Cycle, and is also involved in various technology licensing and joint development projects with IBM.
