KNOWLEDGEWARE ACQUIRES COMPUTER & ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, LTD.
KNOWLEDGEWARE ACQUIRES COMPUTER & ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, LTD. ATLANTA, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move to expand its consulting operations, KnowledgeWare, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: KNOW) today announced the acquisition of Michigan-based Computer & Engineering Consultants, Ltd. (CEC), an information engineering consulting and methodology company. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Samuel B. Holcman, CEC's founder, will become vice president of KnowledgeWare's Systems Engineering Effectiveness and Research Group. Holcman will report to Paul Hessinger, KnowledgeWare's senior vice president for business development and research. In a related move, KnowledgeWare has formed the new Application Development Solution Services (ADSS) division. The division will provide consulting to organizations that want to maximize the effective use of CASE tools in application development. ADSS will help companies in the practical application of CASE technology and provide knowledge transfer and implementation services for KnowledgeWare's Application Development Workbench(R) (ADW\R\) and other KnowledgeWare products. Jonathan Harding, formerly of Computer Task Group, Inc. (CTG), will head KnowledgeWare's ADSS division of 50 staff members. Harding will report to Hessinger and be based at KnowledgeWare's Atlanta headquarters. ADSS will incorporate the CEC consulting staff who will remain in the Detroit area under the direction of former CEC partner Ron Pellegrino, who has been appointed ADSS executive director. The acquisition of CEC brings CEC's FORESIGHT methodology into the KnowledgeWare product portfolio. FORESIGHT is an automated methodology "advisor" that guides a user throughout the ADW information engineering lifecycle. It invokes the appropriate ADW toolset when planning, analysis, design and construction tasks are performed. Future enhancements and further integration of FORESIGHT with ADW will be the responsibility of executive director Jerry Huchzermeier, a former CEC partner, who will report to Holcman. "These announcements reflect KnowledgeWare's emphasis on practical application development solutions -- not just technology," said Don Addington, KnowledgeWare president and chief operating officer.
