KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE INTRODUCES UNDERSEA ADVENTURE, FEATURING RANDOM HOUSE ATLAS OF THE OCEANS WITH INTRODUCTION BY JACQUES COUSTEAU

LA CRESCENTA, Calif., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Knowledge Adventure Inc. today introduced Undersea Adventure, featuring the Random House Atlas of the Oceans with introduction by Jacques Cousteau. Seventh in its series of Interactive Books, Undersea Adventure explores 7 million square miles of ocean, opening up the mysterious world that lies beneath the sea, and introduces its most fascinating inhabitants. Undersea Adventure will be available for IBM and compatible personal computer on diskette or on CD-ROM.
Undersea Adventure features a 3-D Undersea World, exquisite photographic-quality images, illustrations, full-motion video displayed in 256-color VGA and an original score in full stereophonic MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) sound, for use on a PC. From plankton to Blue Whales, this interactive book includes detailed descriptions of the most amazing creatures that crawl, float, wriggle, dart and cruise the ocean depths. In its exploration of the undersea world, Undersea Adventure covers the habitats and environments of the ocean from coral reefs to kelp beds; ocean development and mechanics; the behavior and lifestyles of undersea animals; and man's ever-changing relationship to the sea.
Undersea Adventure will be available to consumers in the third quarter at major software stores, mass merchants, software catalogs and direct marketing organizations. The suggested retail price is $59.95 for the diskette version and $79.95 on CD-ROM.
"With Undersea Adventure, we have combined our interactive movie technology with our proprietary compression technology to create an interactive book that encourages learning through the exploration and discovery of the treasures and mysteries of the sea," said Rod Turner, president and chief executive officer. "We see Undersea Adventure as a key product helping generate even faster growth at Knowledge Adventure as we prepare for the upcoming holiday season."
"Learn about this exciting world beneath the seas by exploring a 3-D Undersea World, watching full-motion videos showing humpback whales and Great White in motion, or by challenging yourself with one of the Undersea Adventure matching activities," said Bill Gross, chairman of Knowledge Adventure Inc. "Ocean exploration takes on a new dimension in our 3-D Undersea World where you can meander among the actual inhabitants of the Barrier Reef or move out to the ocean depths, without ever getting wet. Undersea Adventure is appealing to young elementary-age children with its talking storybook and games, yet it is interesting and informative for adults, too."
Undersea Adventure runs on IBM and compatible PCs, equipped with a VGA monitor and a hard-disk drive. A mouse is recommended. More than 18 popular sound devices are supported, though both products' sounds will play through the PC's speaker as well.
