 (A) -- Full run ROP linage of the joint operating agency between the Seattle Times and the Seattle Post Intelligencer was 250 for the period (down 4.4 percent from the prior year) and 2,802 for the year-to-date (down 7.4 percent from the prior year). Knight-Ridder owns 49.5 percent of the voting stock and 65 percent of the non-voting common stock of the Seattle Times. None of the linage is included in the Advertising Linage section.
 (B) -- On Nov. 27, 1989, the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press began operations under a Joint Operating Agreement as the Detroit Newspaper Agency (DNA). Revenue and linage for 1991 and 1990 include 50 percent of the DNA. Circulation statistics for Detroit are excluded from both years.
 (C) -- Measured by individual Knight-Ridder newspapers. Where necessary, certain previously reported linage has been restated to be consistent with measurement guidelines currently in use.
