 (A) -- On Nov. 27, 1989, the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press began operations under a Joint Operating Agreement as the Detroit Newspaper Agency (DNA). Revenue, linage and circulation for 1993 and 1992 include 50 percent of the DNA.
 (B) -- Full run ROP linage of the joint operating agency between the Seattle Times and the Seattle Post Intelligencer was 201 for the period (down 1.5 percent from the prior year) and 1,403 for the year-to-date (down 8.2 percent from the prior year). Knight-Ridder owns 49.5 percent of the voting stock and 65 percent of the non-voting common stock of the Seattle Times. None of the linage is included in the Advertising Linage section.
 (C) -- Measured by individual Knight-Ridder newspapers. Where necessary, certain previously reported linage has been restated to be consistent with measurement guidelines currently in use.
