 KNIGHT-RIDDER/TRIBUNE BUSINESS NEWS SIGNS AGREEMENTS
 WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business


News signed its first two agreements with vendors for the new service, Robert L. Harris, director, announced.
 Contracts were signed with Comtex Scientific Corp., Stamford, Conn., and Desktop Data Inc., Waltham, Mass.
 Dialog Information Services Inc., Palo Alto, Calif., also will be one of the initial vendors of the new business-news service. Dialog is owned by Knight-Ridder, Inc.
 Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News is a unit of Knight-Ridder Tribune Information Services, a joint venture of Miami-based Knight-Ridder (NYSE: KRI) and Chicago-based Tribune Co. (NYSE: TRB). Knight-Ridder/Tribune has headquarters in Washington.
 The new electronic service will deliver business and related news to executive desktop PC users, researchers, the media and others. The service's sources news include all 30 Knight-Ridder newspapers and magazines, all six Tribune newspapers and five affiliated papers.
 Among the contributing publications are The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Detroit Free Press, the San Jose Mercury News, the Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News, The Charlotte Observer and The Journal of Commerce.
 In addition to same-day, full-text articles from the newspapers and magazines, the service includes news from the Knight-Ridder Financial News service.
 Dialog Information Services has more than 425 databases covering a broad range of subjects. Since 1988, the Knight-Ridder Financial News service has provided around-the-clock, real-time financial and business news to Dialog subscribers.
 The new Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News service replaces the financial report on Dialog. The new, expanded product retains all the news from the financial wire, adding to it the business and related articles from the 41 contributing newspapers and magazines.
 Comtex Scientific is a value-added integrator and electronic distributor of news products for the financial, corporate and consumer markets. In addition to acting as a vendor of Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News to corporations and others, Comtex will process each news item, adding sophisticated coding for easy retrieval by end-users.
 Desktop Data serves customers in the corporate, financial and government communities. Desktop's flagship product, NewsEDGE, delivers tailored up-to-the-minute news to users' personal computers.
