KMART LAUNCHES FLOOD RELIEF IN DES MOINES

 TROY, Mich., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) today announced a multi-step relief effort to help Des Moines, Iowa, flood victims. The company will contribute $20,000 to the American Red Cross in Des Moines for local disaster relief. The donation will be presented by Kmart District Manager Dave Niegsch on Wednesday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the American Red Cross office at 2116 Grand. In addition Kmart will distribute bottled water to residents and donate various needed items such as answering machines, Halls Cough Drops, Sudafed and Curad bandages for American Red Cross use.
 On Thursday, July 15, four truckloads of bottled water will be distributed to Des Moines families through a donation by Kmart and Sun Tory, a bottled water company in Atlanta. A truck will be located in front of each Des Moines Kmart store for residents to obtain one case per household on a first-come basis. Kmart stores are located at: 1200 S.E. Army Post Road, 2535 Hubbell Ave., 5049 N.E. 14th St. and 7501 Hickman in Urbandale.
 Currently tanker trucks of water are located at each of the four Kmart parking lots to dispense safe water, at no charge, to area residents in their own containers. The water trucks have also been offered to the Bloomfield Fire Department for emergency water needs in case of fire.
