 KMART CORPORATION REPORTS FEBRUARY SALES INCREASE
 TROY, Mich., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM)


today reported a sales increase of 9.9 percent for February 1992 over sales during the same period of last year. Consolidated sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 26, 1992, amounted to $2,320,350,000, vs. sales of $2,111,889,000 for the four weeks ended Feb. 27, 1991.
 Kmart Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Joseph E. Antonini said, "We are encouraged by the strength of our Kmart discount store business in February, as it represents the second consecutive month of solid progress. The increase reflects a positive customer response to the on-trend merchandise in our stores, our pricing leadership and an improved in-stock position as a result of more effective replenishment systems. In addition, our specialty store businesses continue to achieve strong comparable-store sales gains."
 Kmart Corporation serves America with over 4,000 retail outlets in all 50 states in the United States and in Puerto Rico and Canada. Kmart, currently operating 2,375 Kmart stores, is also the parent company for PACE Membership Warehouse, Builders Square, Pay Less Drug Stores, Waldenbooks, The Sports Authority and OfficeMax.
