 KMART ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT
 TROY, Mich., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM)


today announced the appointment of Mary C. McGeachy to director of national media relations, effective immediately.
 In this newly created position, McGeachy will be responsible for Kmart Corporation's contact with the national media including television, radio, magazines and major newspapers. Based in New York, she will report directly to Vice President of Corporate Communications Jeanne M. Golly.
 After 10 years as director of public relations for Business Week magazine, she most recently founded McGeachy & Associates, a New York- based media consulting firm during which time she consulted to Kmart. Her other media experience was with CBS, Inc. (magazines), Intercontinental Hotels (The Mark Hopkins), NBC Radio (movie critic) and various television shows at WABC-TV, Westinghouse and PBS.
 A native of Petoskey, Mich., McGeachy received her B.A. from San Francisco State University after first attending the University of Michigan, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Institute for American Universities, Aix-En-Provence, France.
 Kmart Corporation serves America with over 4,000 retail outlets in all 50 states and in Puerto Rico and Canada. Kmart, currently operating 2,356 Kmart stores, is also the parent company for Builders Square, PACE Membership Warehouse, Pay Less Drug Stores, The Sports Authority, Waldenbooks and OfficeMax.
