KMART ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE MOVES

 TROY, Mich., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) today announced a series of executive moves in its specialty retail and U.S. Kmart store divisions.
 Kmart Specialty Retail Division:
 Charles J. Miller, 40, was promoted to group vice president, real estate - specialty retailing, effective immediately. Miller, who reports to George Mrkonic, executive vice president - specialty retailing, oversees real estate, construction and overall development of new retail stores for the seven Kmart-owned specialty companies.
 U.S. Kmart Store Division:
 Edward W. Wilhelm, 34, was promoted to divisional vice president, general controller and James L. Misplon, 42, was promoted to divisional vice president, corporate taxes, both effective immediately. Richard Brunner, 57, was promoted to divisional vice president, store planning, effective April 1, 1993.
 Wilhelm, who reports to Thomas F. Murasky, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is responsible for corporate and U.S. Kmart financial reporting and planning functions, and U.S. Kmart accounting. Misplon, also reporting to Murasky, is responsible for all aspects of tax compliance requirements, research projects and tax planning for Kmart Corporation.
 Brunner, who will report to Richard S. Miller, executive vice president, U.S. Kmart stores, assumes the responsibilities of Thomas H. Nigolian, senior vice president, store planning and interior design, who decided to retire after 32 years with the company.
 Brunner will facilitate, coordinate and control various aspects of the Kmart store renewal program which includes modernizing, expanding and opening new Kmart stores. Previously, Brunner was senior director, store planning and refurbishment and has worked closely with Nigolian on the Kmart renewal program for the past four years.

 Nigolian will serve as a consultant to the company during the next few years to ensure the strategic continuity of Kmart's renewal program.
 Background on Promoted Executives:
 Miller joined Kmart in September 1982 as a property manager in the real estate department which was followed by promotions of increasing responsibility. In June 1991, he was named director, real estate for the specialty retail division. He is a native of Lansing, Mich. Miller received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from the Detroit College of Law. Miller is licensed to practice law in Michigan and practiced law in Troy before joining Kmart. Miller resides in West Bloomfield, Mich.
 Wilhelm joined Kmart in May 1991, as controller, corporate reporting. In December 1991, he was promoted to general controller. Previous to joining Kmart, Wilhelm was a senior audit manager with Price Waterhouse. He is a native of Detroit and received his bachelor's from the University of Detroit. Wilhelm resides in Washington Township, Mich.
 Misplon joined Kmart in 1983 as manager of federal income tax research. After appointments of increasing responsibility, Misplon was named corporate assistant controller, income tax planning and reporting in 1985. In 1987, he became director, corporate taxes and controller. Misplon is a native of Detroit and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University. Previous to joining Kmart, Misplon was with Price Waterhouse and Deloitte & Touche for a total of 11 years. Currently, he resides in Troy.
 Brunner joined Kmart in September 1961 as a management trainee in Buffalo, N.Y. He has managed Kmart stores in Philadelphia, San Jose, Los Angeles and has served as a district manager and regional manager in several parts of the country. In January 1991, Brunner moved to Kmart International Headquarters as director, store operations. Later that year, he began his assignment as senior director, store planning and refurbishment. Brunner is a native of Buffalo and attended the University of Buffalo. Currently, he resides in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
