KMART ACQUIRES PHAR-MOR CUSTOMER PRESCRIPTION RECORDS
TROY, Mich., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM)

today announced its acquisition of Phar-Mor prescription files for customers in 23 locations. Effective immediately, in select cities where Phar-Mor stores have closed, customers will find their files in the care of Kmart pharmacists.
"This acquisition represents significant impact for Kmart pharmacy departments," said Kevin Browett, Kmart divisional vice president, Pharmacy, Health and Beauty Aids. "Phar-Mor chose Kmart as a partner because we will meet their customers' high pharmaceutical standards."
Kmart is among the largest clients of the top pharmaceutical manufacturers in the nation, using companies such as Eli Lilly, Bristol- Myers Squibb and Merck to fill prescriptions. At Kmart pharmacies, customers will find computerized prescription service, convenient one- stop shopping, quality generic drugs and competitive prices.
"Phar-Mor customers will be pleased to know that at a Kmart store, if a prescription is not ready when promised, it's free," said Browett.
Kmart's current refurbishment of its pharmacies adds to the convenient shopping experience. Bigger windows and drop-off windows designed at eye-level height provide quicker service and ensures that pharmacists are as close to the customer as possible.
Kmart's 1,400 pharmacies dispense more than 45 million prescriptions per year, illustrating the trust that consumers have in quality and price. Kmart serves America with more than 4,000 retail outlets in all 50 states in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
