KIRSTY'S GO SLOW; TV takes back seat.

WORKAHOLIC newsgirl Kirsty Young has vowed to put her career on the back-burner to avoid jeopardising her marriage.

The ITN presenter finally found love with tycoon Nick Jones after a string of failed romances.

And though she got hitched last October, the ambitious Scot was expected to continue her rapid rise to the top.

But she revealed: "I have learned that in the end, working too hard does not make for a happy life.

"If I have to downscale my expectations then so be it."

The couple met at Nick's trendy Somerset hotel, Babington House, in the summer of 1998.

Kirsty, 31, also dated Rab C Nesbitt creator Ian Pattison and Scotland rugby star Kenny
