The 10 lawyers will form the nucleus of the new office, which will focus initially on civil and criminal litigation of all types, particularly financial and business matters and securities-related litigation. The office, located in One Rockefeller Plaza, will add a full complement of associate attorneys and staff in the near future.

Pittsburgh lawyer Ted Craig, chairman of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart's management committee, commented, "We are delighted to establish a new office composed of such quality individuals and lawyers. We anticipate rapid growth in our New York office as we service the needs of our clients in and around New York and further develop our national practice."
The firm anticipates that the New York office will provide a foundation to expand upon client work originated in Kirkpatrick & Lockhart's other offices. Washington partner Dick Phillips, the current chair of the business law section of the American Bar Association, stated, "The addition of Mike Armstrong and his group will significantly enhance the securities practice in Kirkpatrick & Lockhart's offices in Washington and other cities. It will also strengthen our ability to serve and expand our substantial client base in New York."
Armstrong added, "Kirkpatrick & Lockhart is an exciting firm of truly fine people. We look forward to working with them to build something special in New York."
With the addition of the New York office, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart now has over 350 attorneys practicing in six offices, including Boston, Harrisburg, Pa., Miami, Pittsburgh and Washington.
