BANBRIDGE Town Juniors manager Wylie Dickson readily admitted Lurgan Celtic Youth fully deserved their 6-0 win in the under-13 Section 2 Shield of the Daily Mirror Lisburn Junior Invitational League.

Louis Henderson led the way for Lurgan with a hat-trick and he was closely followed on the goalscoring trail by Nathan Gowdy, who helped himself to a double.

Roan McAlinden finished the scoring with a fine individual goal.

Lurgan manager Michael Henderson pointed out, though, there are three teams at the top of the section who will take some catching.

The trio picked out by Michael all won through in the Shield competition.

Newcastle FC beat Lurgan Town Colts 6-1, Tollymore were 4-2 winners over Hillsborough Colts and Warrenpoint Town Colts beat Lisburn Distillery Youth 3-2. In other games in the section, Dromara Youth beat North End Youth 5-1, Crewe United Youth were 3-0 winners over Oxford Sunnyside Youth and Loughgall Youth beat Lisburn Ladies 6-0.
