KIMS performs life-saving surgery.

The woman, pregnant for the first time, was admitted to KIMS as an emergency with severe lower abdominal pain and intermittent bleeding late evening. Dr Laszlo Zoltan Ternyik, senior consultant in general, laparoscopic and bariatric surgery; and gynaecologist Dr Shalaka Prakash Kant performed the surgery on the patient to treat her internal bleeding and unbearable abdominal pain.

"She has returned to her daily activities. Now, she is feeling completely fine without regular painkillers," said Dr Ternyik.

"Ectopic pregnancy is a potential medical emergency and can even lead to death if not treated properly."

Ectopic pregnancy is a complication of pregnancy which occurs in about one per cent cases when the embryo implants outside the uterine cavity.
