DALLAS, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB) today announced the introduction of Huggies UltraTrim diapers, a redesigned disposable diaper that is 50 percent thinner and offers absorbency equal to diapers twice as thick.
New Huggies UltraTrim diapers are made with advanced superabsorbent materials and feature an innovative liner that quickly draws and distributes fluid evenly throughout the diaper. In addition, the elastic around the legs is curved to fit babies better and to provide added comfort.
"Parents told us they wanted a trimmer diaper that offered exceptional absorbency and leakage protection," said Dudley Lehman, president of K-C's Infant Care Sector. "The Huggies UltraTrim diaper, with its unique tailored design and improved absorbent materials, is the next generation of disposable diapers. Because it is so thin and flexible, the new diaper provides improved fit on active babies and fits better under clothing," he added.
The new diaper also represents an advancement in source reduction, which means using less materials to make high-quality products. Each Huggies UltraTrim diaper requires 20 percent less material than a current Huggies diaper. Moreover, Huggies UltraTrim diaper packages are significantly smaller and use 25 percent less plastic than current packaging. Source reduction is the Environmental Protection Agency's number one priority to help reduce solid waste.
Huggies UltraTrim diapers will initially be available this summer in portions of the northwestern United States.
