KICK BOXING: Title joy for Tyrone.

COVENTRY 20-year-old Tyrone McNamara made short work of Northampton opponent Shane Owen to claim the IKF Midland Area Full Contact title.

McNamara won by TKO in the 88.7kg class with just one second left of the third round in their top-of-the-bill clash at Radford Social Club, which was sold out despite a big amateur boxing event in the city on the same night.

In the evening's only other pro event Radford's Michael Bogusz was beaten by unanimous decision over five two-minute rounds to Northampton's Adam Dove, who took the Midland Area title at 80kg but will have a re-match in October.

All the kick-boxers train at the Coventry Freestyle gym under head coach Tom Morris on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (07831 405197).
