KHAKI FAILS TO INSTIL FEAR.

CRIMINALS in the Capital seem to have lost all fear, let alone respect, for the men in khaki. On Thursday evening, an ACP of the Delhi Police Special Cell was brutally assaulted by unidentified men near Lodhi crematorium in South Delhi on October 16. However, that's only the latest in the series of such attacks.

In another incident on October 16, a truck driver from Mewat region allegedly kidnapped a police constable when he was escorting the former to a traffic police pit after compounding his truck in West Delhi's Vikaspuri area.

When the police constable of traffic unit, Shakti Malik, had stopped the truck at Outer Ring Road in Vikaspuri and asked the driver to produce documents.

" The accused Mubarak was not carrying the documents after which Malik issued a challan to him. Later, malik asked him to come with him to a traffic police pit in Rampura area of Trinagar. But when Malik tried to sit in his truck, he suddenly accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot," the officer added.

Police started chasing the truck as soon as the information was transmitted through wireless sets. The vehicle was intercepted in Dhaula Kuan after 10 km and the constable was freed.

On the basis of Malik's complaint, a case was registered under Sections 307 ( attempt to murder), 186 ( obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 of the IPC at the Vikaspuri police station in West Delhi. The accused was later arrested from the spot.
