KFC TO OPEN IN ISRAEL

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The leading Western fast- food company in the Middle East, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) announced today the opening of Israel's first KFC restaurant.
The 60-seat restaurant will open on October 24th. The restaurant will be located in Rishon Le Zyonn, or "Golden Canyon," a new shopping mall in suburban Tel Aviv. A second unit, at the new bus station in the center of Tel Aviv, will open later this year.
These new KFC restaurants will feature chicken and side dishes that are prepared according to kosher standards. Traditional fare such as Original Recipe chicken and cole slaw will be offered. KFC will supply all food products from within Israel, a departure from other Western quick service restaurants.
KFC's partner in the new enterprise is Clal Trading Limited, a leading Israeli retail company, and current Pizza Hut franchise partner.
KFC has over 85 restaurants in ten Middle-East countries. These restaurants average a million dollars U.S. sales each, and many restaurants feature children's playgrounds, home delivery and expanded menus.
The world's largest chicken restaurant chain, KFC currently operates over 6,850 restaurants in 68 countries. This year alone, KFC has opened restaurants in Poland, Russia, Brazil and Colombia.
