KFC CEO BETS 50 TONS OF CHICKEN ON HAMMER'S DERBY HORSE
LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Over a hundred thousand

pounds of chicken for the nation's hungry will be riding on the horse owned by rap superstar Hammer in this year's Kentucky Derby, thanks to an early bet placed by the CEO of Kentucky Fried Chicken, the company said today.
KFC President and CEO John Cranor bet Hammer, whose current U.S. tour is sponsored by KFC, that if Hammer's horse Dance Floor wins the Kentucky Derby, the company will donate one piece of chicken for every piece of Honey BBQ Chicken it sells on May 3, the day after the race. Cranor made the bet while attending the recent Bluegrass Stakes with Hammer in Lexington, Ky.
KFC estimates that a win by Dance Floor would yield a contribution of at least 100,000 pounds of chicken.
The wagered chicken would supplement another commitment by KFC, to USA Harvest, a national network which distributes food to the hungry and homeless. KFC agreed to give the network one piece of chicken for every piece of Honey BBQ Chicken it sells on May 2, Derby Day. Hammer's May 1 Louisville concert is intended to raise food for America's hungry.
"Hammer is a KFC chicken lover," Cranor said. "He challenged us to help him feed America's hungry, and we responded. This bet is a good-natured way to raise the stakes and show our faith, not just in Hammer but in Dance Floor too. If Dance Floor puts on half as good a show as Hammer, we think he'll be a big winner."
KFC's Honey BBQ Chicken is a new product which is being offered in some 5,000 KFC Restaurants across the country for a limited time starting this week. Honey BBQ chicken is tender, juicy pieces of on-the-bone fried chicken dipped in a rich honey barbeque sauce.
