KEYCORP APPOINTS LANG AND BUTLER WITHIN CREDIT MANAGEMENT DIVISION

 ALBANY, N.Y. June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Victor J. Riley, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer, has announced two appointments within KeyCorp's (NYSE: KEY) senior management team. John M. Lang will assume the position of chief credit officer in addition to his present responsibilities as executive vice president and chairman of the corporate credit policy committee. Michael A. Butler, senior vice president in the corporate Credit Management Division will now be responsible for all functions of the loan review process and its staff. These moves come in the wake of the appointment of James P. Menzies as president and chief executive officer of Key Bank of New York. Menzies previously served as executive vice president and chief credit officer of the holding company.
 Lang, 59, has over 35 years experience within the KeyCorp organization, including many years as the senior lending officer of KeyCorp's flagship bank in Albany, N.Y., prior to his appointment as executive vice president in 1984. Lang is a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., where he earned his bachelor of arts degree.
 Butler, 34, began his career at KeyCorp in 1981 as a management trainee. He has worked within the loan review division for ten years in positions of increasing responsibility and was named a senior vice president in 1992. He received bachelor degrees in both finance and marketing from Providence College, Providence, R.I. He is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
