 KEY TRONIC ISO CERTIFIED
SPOKANE, Wash., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Key Tronic Corp.

(NASDAQ-NMS: KTCC), the Spokane-based manufacturer of computer keyboards, today announced that it has achieved its goal of receiving ISO 9002 certification for its domestic operations prior to year end.
"We believe we are the first computer keyboard supplier to be registered to ISO in the United States," said Rob Camden-Britton, vice president of Quality Assurance. "Our focus in this area has made our operations more competitive and allows us to meet upcoming international trade requirements for global marketing possibilities. More importantly, this focus has reduced costs for our customers related to Supplier audits."
The ISO 9000 standards are a systematic approach to quality requiring detailed accounting of procedures and work. The standards are established and administered by the International Organization for Standardization ("ISO"). The Geneva, Switzerland-based organization is composed of about 91 member countries.
The ISO 9002 registration is for Key Tronic's manufacture of keyboards, input and output devices, custom assemblies and custom molding. This registration is effective for three years. Periodic re-audits will be done during the three years to assure ongoing compliance.
The company's Ireland facility received its ISO 9002 certification last October from the National Standards Authority of Ireland. The Dundalk, Ireland, operation is the company's European computer keyboard manufacturing facility.
According to the Quality Systems Update, in their August 1992 issue, only 400 U.S. companies are registered to the ISO 9000 Quality System standard.
"Our ISO 9002 registration confirms that we have world class quality techniques for building our products," said Camden-Britton. "This means there will be continuous improvement in the quality and value built into our customers' products."
Stanley Hiller, the company's chief executive officer, said, "This independent, third-party approval of our quality system is another major step in rebuilding the company's core capabilities."
Key Tronic operates facilities in Spokane, Wash.; Cheney, Wash.; Dundalk, Ireland; and Singapore. The company's common stock is traded in the over-the-counter market and is listed on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol KTCC.
