KEVIN PERKINS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF SIZZLER INTERNATIONAL EFFECTIVE MAY 1994

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Kevin Perkins, 42, has been elected president of Sizzler International Inc. (NYSE: SZ), effective as of May 1, 1994, the start of the company's next fiscal year.
In his new role, he will be responsible for all of Sizzler's domestic and international operations, reporting to Richard P. Bermingham, currently Sizzler's president, who will continue to serve as the company's chief executive officer.
Bermingham stated: "I look forward to working closely with Kevin Perkins in fostering Sizzler's further development. He has done an outstanding job in leading the expansion of our highly successful International Division.
"His selection as Sizzler's next president reflects his long experience with the company and demonstrated ability to successfully assume greater responsibilities in restaurant operations. We are confident he possesses the talent, experience, drive and dedication to play a key role in enhancing and expanding our future activities."
Currently, Perkins serves as president of Sizzler Asia/Pacific. The native Australian was born in Brisbane and has spent the past 14 years with the company (including its predecessor Collins Foods International Inc.), starting as director of Marketing and Real Estate in Los Angeles for the former domestic Kentucky Fried Chicken division. In 1982, he returned to Australia where he held the posts of Australian director of Operations and managing director of Collins Foods Australia. He became a corporate vice president in 1987.
"Kevin has an excellent track record with our company and played an instrumental role in the growth and success of our 80 KFC restaurants in Queensland," said Bermingham. "Even more significantly, he has been responsible for Sizzler's remarkable success in Australia -- opening the first one in that country in 1985 and carefully guiding the concept to its present preeminent market position. Presently, we have 41 company- operated and 39 franchised Sizzlers there.
"In the United States, Sizzler has large challenges and great opportunities. Our new family-focused positioning and marketing programs are very exciting. We're dedicated to improving operating results and to becoming the nation's premier family restaurant. I believe Kevin Perkins has the experience and the ability to help us meet our ambitious objectives."
Perkins earned his undergraduate degree in business from Queensland Institute of Technology and currently serves on the board of its Foundation. He attained his MBA from California State University, Los Angeles. Among his activities has been a seven-year membership in the Young Presidents Association.
