KENWOOD TOUR DE FORCE MOBILE INFORMATIONAL CENTER TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE AT SECOND ANNUAL INDY 500 EXPO

KENWOOD TOUR DE FORCE MOBILE INFORMATIONAL CENTER
TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE AT SECOND ANNUAL INDY 500 EXPO
LONG BEACH, Calif., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- It won't go more than 210 miles per hour, and it won't handle corners with any agility. It will, however, be one of the only vehicles at this year's Indianapolis 500 that spectators can climb into and come away a winner.
Kenwood's Tour de Force is just that -- a great performance that will in many ways outperform the sleek Chevrolet-powered cars that will take to the Brickyard over Memorial Day weekend.
The Kenwood exhibit -- a rolling surround-sound theater that will visit nearly 75 venues this year -- gives the consumer an up-close feel for advances in home theater. And much more.
Besides enveloping the visitor in a multispeaker video environment for a specially produced seven-minute film, Kenwood has designed interactive software that allows consumers to use touch-screen computer modules to peruse currently available electronics equipment. The visitor can even find out what type of amplification equipment will work best in his or her own vehicle.
The Tour de Force, which recently attended the Long Beach Grand Prix, has been seen by more than 500,000 people since its public debut in February. It will cover more than 110,000 miles before year-end, and is part of an aggressive campaign by Kenwood to broaden interest in consumer electronics equipment.
According to the company's senior vice president, Dan Petersen, "We're trying to humanize the various technologies that are coming on- line so prospective purchasers aren't intimidated by a lack of understanding."
The Tour de Force, he feels, provides the opportunity for those who wouldn't be inclined to visit an electronics dealer, a chance to sample the industry's newest innovations. And then, he hopes, be provided the impetus to visit a retailer.
 Kenwood's display at the Indy 500 Expo will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 21-22; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 23; and 7-10:30 a.m., May 24.
