KENTUCKY MEDICAL'S 'EXCELLENT' RATING RECONFIRMED FOR 1993

 LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Kentucky Medical Insurance Company (NASDAQ-NMS: KYMDA) has received notification that its A-(Excellent) rating from A.M. Best Company has been reconfirmed for 1993.
 Best cited Kentucky Medical's continued profitability, adequate capitalization and liquidity position as major factors in the renewal of their A-(Excellent) rating.
 "To maintain such a high rating is quite an accomplishment, particularly at a time when the frequency and severity of claims are increasing," noted Steven L. Salman, president and chief executive officer.
 "Best's rating further confirms our financial strength and stability," Salman said.
